This body is frail; old age is overtaking it. Those who are protected by the Guru Ji are saved, while others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going. Others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going, and in the end, they depart with regret. Without the Name, there is no peace. According to one’s actions here, so are the rewards received; the self-willed manmukhs lose their honor. In the City of Death, there is pitch darkness and huge clouds of dust; neither sister nor brother is there. This body is frail; old age is overtaking it. || 1 || The body becomes golden, when one unites with the True Guru. Doubt and Maya have been removed from within me, and I am merged in the True Name. Merged in the True Name, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; meeting my Beloved, I have found peace. I am in constant bliss, day and night; egotism has been dispelled from within me. I fall at the feet of those persons who enshrine the Naam within their consciousness. The body becomes golden, when one unites with the True Guru. || 2 || We truly praise the True Lord, when the True Guru imparts understanding. Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt; going to the world hereafter, what face will they show? What face will they show, when they go there? They will regret and repent for their sins — their actions will bring them only pain and suffering. Those who are imbued with the Naam are dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord’s Love; they merge into the Being of their Husband Lord. I cannot conceive of any other as great as the Lord; unto whom should I go and speak? We truly praise the True Lord, when the True Guru imparts understanding. || 3 || I fall at the feet of those who praise the Truest of the True. Those humble beings are true and immaculately pure; meeting them, all filth is washed off. Meeting them, all filth is washed off; bathing in the Pool of Truth, one becomes truthful, with intuitive ease. The True Guru has given me the realization of the Naam, the Name of the immaculate, unfathomable, imperceptible Lord. Those who worship the Lord with devotion night and day are attuned to His Love; O Nanak, they are absorbed in the True Lord. I fall at the feet of those who meditate on the Truest of the True. || 4 || 4 ||

Wadahans, Third Mehl:
ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਜਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਜਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਏ ॥
इहु सरीरु जजरी है इस नो जरु पहुचै आए ॥
Ih sarīr jajrī hai is no jar pahucẖai ā▫e.
This body is frail; old age is overtaking it.
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰੁ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
गुरि राखे से उबरे होरु मरि जमै आवै जाए ॥
Gur rākẖe se ubre hor mar jammai āvai jā▫e.
Those who are protected by the Guru are saved, while others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going.
ਹੋਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥
होरि मरि जमहि आवहि जावहि अंति गए पछुतावहि बिनु नावै सुखु न होई ॥
Hor mar jamėh āvahi jāvėh anṯ ga▫e pacẖẖuṯāvahi bin nāvai sukẖ na ho▫ī.
Others die, to be reincarnated; they continue coming and going, and in the end, they depart regretfully. Without the Name, there is no peace.
ਐਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥
ऐथै कमावै सो फलु पावै मनमुखि है पति खोई ॥
Aithai kamāvai so fal pāvai manmukẖ hai paṯ kẖo▫ī.
As one acts here, so does he obtain his rewards; the self-willed manmukh loses his honor.
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ ਨਾ ਤਿਥੈ ਭੈਣ ਨ ਭਾਈ ॥
जम पुरि घोर अंधारु महा गुबारु ना तिथै भैण न भाई ॥
Jam pur gẖor anḏẖār mahā gubār nā ṯithai bẖaiṇ na bẖā▫ī.
In the City of Death, there is pitch darkness, and huge clouds of dust; neither sister nor brother is there.
ਇਹੁ ਸਰੀਰੁ ਜਜਰੀ ਹੈ ਇਸ ਨੋ ਜਰੁ ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਈ ॥੧॥

ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੜੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
भ्रमु माइआ विचहु कटीऐ सचड़ै नामि समाए ॥
Bẖaram mā▫i▫ā vicẖahu katī▫ai sacẖṛai nām samā▫e.
Doubt and Maya have been removed from within me, and I am merged in the Naam, the True Name of the Lord.
ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
सचै नामि समाए हरि गुण गाए मिलि प्रीतम सुखु पाए ॥
Sacẖai nām samā▫e har guṇ gā▫e mil parīṯam sukẖ pā▫e.
Merged in the True Name of the Lord, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; meeting my Beloved, I have found peace.
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
सदा अनंदि रहै दिनु राती विचहु हंउमै जाए ॥
Saḏā anand rahai ḏin rāṯī vicẖahu haʼn▫umai jā▫e.
I am in constant bliss, day and night; egotism has been dispelled from within me.
ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹੰਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
जिनी पुरखी हरि नामि चितु लाइआ तिन कै हंउ लागउ पाए ॥
Jinī purkẖī har nām cẖiṯ lā▫i▫ā ṯin kai haʼn▫u lāga▫o pā▫e.
I fall at the feet of those who enshrine the Naam within their consciousness.
ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਥੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥
कांइआ कंचनु तां थीऐ जा सतिगुरु लए मिलाए ॥२॥

ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸਨਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
बिनु सतिगुर भरमि भुलाणीआ किआ मुहु देसनि आगै जाए ॥
Bin saṯgur bẖaram bẖulāṇī▫ā ki▫ā muhu ḏesan āgai jā▫e.
Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt; going to the world hereafter, what face will they display?
ਕਿਆ ਦੇਨਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਾਏ ਅਵਗੁਣਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਏ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
किआ देनि मुहु जाए अवगुणि पछुताए दुखो दुखु कमाए ॥
Ki▫ā ḏen muhu jā▫e avguṇ pacẖẖuṯā▫e ḏukẖo ḏukẖ kamā▫e.
What face will they show, when they go there? They will regret and repent for their sins; their actions will bring them only pain and suffering.
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੀਆ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
नामि रतीआ से रंगि चलूला पिर कै अंकि समाए ॥
Nām raṯī▫ā se rang cẖalūlā pir kai ank samā▫e.
Those who are imbued with the Naam are dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love; they merge into the Being of their Husband Lord.
ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝਈ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਾਏ ॥
तिसु जेवडु अवरु न सूझई किसु आगै कहीऐ जाए ॥
Ŧis jevad avar na sūjẖ▫ī kis āgai kahī▫ai jā▫e.
I can conceive of no other as great as the Lord; unto whom should I go and speak?
ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੩॥
सो सचा सचु सलाहीऐ जे सतिगुरु देइ बुझाए ॥३॥
So sacẖā sacẖ salāhī▫ai je saṯgur ḏe▫e bujẖā▫e. ||3||

से जन सचे निरमले तिन मिलिआ मलु सभ जाए ॥
Se jan sacẖe nirmale ṯin mili▫ā mal sabẖ jā▫e.
Those humble beings are true, and immaculately pure; meeting them, all filth is washed off.
ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਲੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਏ ਸਚੈ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਏ ਸਚੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
तिन मिलिआ मलु सभ जाए सचै सरि नाए सचै सहजि सुभाए ॥
Ŧin mili▫ā mal sabẖ jā▫e sacẖai sar nā▫e sacẖai sahj subẖā▫e.
Meeting them, all filth is washed off; bathing in the Pool of Truth, one becomes truthful, with intuitive ease.
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
नामु निरंजनु अगमु अगोचरु सतिगुरि दीआ बुझाए ॥
Nām niranjan agam agocẖar saṯgur ḏī▫ā bujẖā▫e.
The True Guru has given me the realization of the Naam, the Immaculate Name of the Lord, the unfathomable, the imperceptible.
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
अनदिनु भगति करहि रंगि राते नानक सचि समाए ॥
An▫ḏin bẖagaṯ karahi rang rāṯe Nānak sacẖ samā▫e.
Those who perform devotional worship to the Lord night and day, are imbued with His Love; O Nanak, they are absorbed in the True Lord.
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੜਾ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹੰਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥
जिनी सचड़ा सचु धिआइआ हंउ तिन कै लागउ पाए ॥४॥४॥
Jinī sacẖṛā sacẖ ḏẖi▫ā▫i▫ā haʼn▫u ṯin kai lāga▫o pā▫e. ||4||4||
I fall at the feet of those who meditate on the Truest of the True. ||4||4||

ਬੋਦੀ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਦੇਹ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਧੀਰ ਧੀਰੇ ਆ ਪੁੱਜੇਗਾ।
ਜਜਰੀ = ਪੁੱਗਾ, ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਇਸ ਨੋ = ਇਸ ਨੂੰ। ਜਰੁ = ਬੁਢੇਪਾ। ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਏ = ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਇ, ਆ ਅੱਪੜਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਆ ਦਬਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਗੁਰਿ ਰਾਖੇ ਸੇ ਉਬਰੇ ਹੋਰੁ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮੈ ਆਵੈ ਜਾਏ ॥

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹ ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੋਰ ਮਰਦੇ, ਜੰਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਆਉਂਦੇ ਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਰਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ। ਸੇ = ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ {ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ}। ਉਬਰੇ = ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਹੋਰੁ = ਜੇਹੜਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ। ਆਵੈ = ਜੰਮਦਾ ਹੈ। ਜਾਏ = ਮਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ, ਉਹ (ਮੋਹ ਵਿਚ ਗ਼ਰਕ ਹੋਣ ਤੋਂ) ਬਚ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ ਪਰ ਹੋਰ ਜਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਹੋਰਿ ਮਰਿ ਜੰਮਹਿ ਆਵਹਿ ਜਾਵਹਿ ਅੰਤਿ ਗਏ ਪਛੁਤਾਵਹਿ ਬਿਨੁ ਨਾਵੈ ਸੁਖੁ ਨ ਹੋਈ ॥

ਹੋਰਿ = {ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ 'ਹੋਰੁ' ਦਾ ਬਹੁ-ਵਚਨ} ਹੋਰ, (ਭਾਵ) ਉਹ ਬੰਦੇ ਜੋ ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੇ। ਜੰਮਹਿ = ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ। ਆਵਹਿ = ਜੰਮਦੇ ਹਨ। ਜਾਵਹਿ = ਮਰ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ। ਅੰਤਿ = ਆਖ਼ਰ ਨੂੰ। ਗਏ = ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹੋਏ।
ਹੋਰ ਜਮਦੇ ਤੇ ਮਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਅੰਤ (ਮਰਨ) ਵੇਲੇ ਪਛਤਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ; ਹਰਿ-ਨਾਮ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ ਆਤਮਕ-ਜੀਵਨ ਦਾ ਸੁੱਖ ਨਹੀਂ ਮਿਲਦਾ।
ਐਥੈ ਕਮਾਵੈ ਸੋ ਫਲੁ ਪਾਵੈ ਮਨਮੁਖਿ ਹੈ ਪਤਿ ਖੋਈ ॥

ਜੋ ਕੁਝ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਏਥੇ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਫਲ ਲੈ ਆਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪ-ਹੁਦਰੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਆਬਰੂ ਗੁਆ ਲੈਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਐਥੈ = ਇਸ ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ। ਕਮਾਵੈ = (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਜੇਹੜੀ) ਕਰਣੀ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ। ਮਨਮੁਖਿ = ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ ਮਨੁੱਖ। ਪਤਿ = ਇੱਜ਼ਤ।
ਇਸ ਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜੀਵ ਜੇਹੜੀ ਕਰਣੀ ਕਮਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਹੀ ਫਲ ਭੋਗਦਾ ਹੈ। ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਦੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਤੁਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਦਰਬਾਰ ਵਿਚ) ਆਪਣੀ ਇੱਜ਼ਤ ਗਵਾ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਮੌਤ ਦੇ ਸ਼ਹਿਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਭਿਆਨਕ ਅਨ੍ਹੇਰਾ ਤੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਘਟਾ ਹੈ। ਉਥੇ ਨਾਂ ਅੰਮਾ ਜਾਈਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਨਾਂ ਹੀ ਵੀਰ।
ਜਮ ਪੁਰਿ = ਜਮ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ। ਘੋਰ ਅੰਧਾਰੁ = ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ। ਮਹਾ ਗੁਬਾਰੁ = ਬਹੁਤ ਹਨੇਰਾ। ਤਿਥੈ = ਉਸ ਥਾਂ।
(ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਲਈ) ਜਮ ਰਾਜ ਦੀ ਪੁਰੀ ਵਿਚ ਵੀ ਘੁੱਪ ਹਨੇਰਾ, ਬਹੁਤ ਹਨੇਰਾ ਹੀ ਬਣਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਉਥੇ ਭੈਣ ਜਾਂ ਭਰਾ ਕੋਈ ਸਹਾਇਤਾ ਨਹੀਂ ਕਰ ਸਕਦਾ।

ਬੋਦਾ ਹੈ ਇਹ ਜਿਸਮ, ਬੁਢੇਪਾ ਇਸ ਉਤੇ ਹੌਲੀ ਹੌਲੀ ਆ ਪਹੁੰਚਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਜਜਰੀ = ਪੁੱਗਾ, ਨਾਸ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ। ਇਸ ਨੋ = ਇਸ ਨੂੰ। ਜਰੁ = ਬੁਢੇਪਾ। ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਏ = ਪਹੁਚੈ ਆਇ, ਆ ਅੱਪੜਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਪੁਰਾਣਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਹੈ, ਇਸ ਨੂੰ ਬੁਢੇਪਾ (ਜ਼ਰੂਰ) ਆ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੧॥
ਕਾਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਥੀਐ ਜਾਂ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥
The body becomes like gold, when the True Guru unites one with Himself.
ਜੇਕਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਣ ਤਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਸੋਨਾ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।
ਕਾਇਆ = ਸਰੀਰ। ਕੰਚਨੁ = ਸੋਨਾ, ਸੋਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ। ਤਾਂ = ਤਦੋਂ। ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ = ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਇ।
ਇਹ ਸਰੀਰ ਤਦੋਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੁੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ (ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ) ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ ਮਾਇਆ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਕਟੀਐ ਸਚੜੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Doubt and Maya have been removed from within me, and I am merged in the Naam, the True Name of the Lord.
ਸੰਸਾ ਤੇ ਮਾਇਆ-ਮੋਹ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਏ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਮੈਂ ਸੱਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ।
ਭ੍ਰਮੁ = ਭਟਕਣਾ। ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਸਮਾਏ = ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
(ਤਦੋਂ ਮਨੁੱਖ) ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਤੇ ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਾਤਰ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੈ ਨਾਮਿ ਸਮਾਏ ਹਰਿ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਏ ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਏ ॥
Merged in the True Name of the Lord, I sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord; meeting my Beloved, I have found peace.
ਮੈਂ ਸਤਿਨਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹਾਂ, ਰੱਬ ਦਾ ਜੱਸ ਗਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸੁੱਖ ਪਾਉਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਮਿਲਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ = ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ।
ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਂਦਾ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਪ੍ਰਭੂ-ਪ੍ਰੀਤਮ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਆਨੰਦ ਮਾਣਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਦਾ ਅਨੰਦਿ ਰਹੈ ਦਿਨੁ ਰਾਤੀ ਵਿਚਹੁ ਹੰਉਮੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
I am in constant bliss, day and night; egotism has been dispelled from within me.
ਦਿਨ ਤੇ ਰਾਤ ਮੈਂ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਹੀ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਮੇਰੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹੰਕਾਰ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਗਿਆ ਹੈ।
ਅਨੰਦਿ = ਅਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ।
ਇਸ ਆਨੰਦ ਵਿਚ ਦਿਨ ਰਾਤ ਸਦਾ ਟਿਕਿਆ ਰਹਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ, ਤੇ, ਇਸ ਦੇ ਅੰਦਰੋਂ ਹਉਮੈ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਜਿਨੀ ਪੁਰਖੀ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਿ ਚਿਤੁ ਲਾਇਆ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਹੰਉ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
I fall at the feet of those who enshrine the Naam within their consciousness.
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਪੁਰਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰਾਂ ਉਤੇ ਡਿਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜਿਹੜੇ ਵਾਹਿਗੁਰੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਆਪਣੇ ਮਨ ਨੂੰ ਜੋੜਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਪੁਰਖੀ = ਪੁਰਖਾਂ ਨੇ। ਹੰਉ = ਮੈਂ। ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਪਾਏ = ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ। ਲਾਗਉ = ਲਾਗਉਂ, ਮੈਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਮਨੁੱਖਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਚਿੱਤ ਜੋੜਿਆ ਹੋਇਆ ਹੈ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਕਾਂਇਆ ਕੰਚਨੁ ਤਾਂ ਥੀਐ ਜਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਲਏ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਾਲ ਜੋੜ ਲੈਣ, ਤਦ ਮੇਰੀ ਦੇਹ ਸੋਨੇ ਦੀ ਹੋ ਜਾਵੇਗੀ।

ਸਰੀਰ ਤਦੋਂ ਸੋਨੇ ਵਾਂਗ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਨੂੰ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਜੋੜ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੨॥
ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
We truly praise the True Lord, when the True Guru imparts understanding.
ਜੇਕਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਸਲਾਹੀਐ = ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ = ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ, ਸਮਝਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇਵੇ।
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਬਿਨੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ ਕਿਆ ਮੁਹੁ ਦੇਸਨਿ ਆਗੈ ਜਾਏ ॥
Without the True Guru, they are deluded by doubt; going to the world hereafter, what face will they display?
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਬਾਝੋਂ ਉਹ ਵਹਿਮ ਅੰਦਰ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪਏ ਹੋਏ ਹਨ। ਅੱਗੇ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਦਿਖਾਉਣਗੇ?
ਭਰਮਿ = (ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ) ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ। ਭੁਲਾਣੀਆ = ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਦੇਸਨਿ = ਦੇਣਗੀਆਂ। ਆਗੈ = ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ। ਜਾਏ = ਜਾਇ, ਜਾ ਕੇ।
ਗੁਰੂ ਦੀ ਸਰਨ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ) ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਭਟਕਣਾ ਵਿਚ ਪੈ ਕੇ ਕੁਰਾਹੇ ਪੈ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਤੇ ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਸ਼ਰਮ-ਸਾਰ ਹੁੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਕਿਆ ਦੇਨਿ ਮੁਹੁ ਜਾਏ ਅਵਗੁਣਿ ਪਛੁਤਾਏ ਦੁਖੋ ਦੁਖੁ ਕਮਾਏ ॥
What face will they show, when they go there? They will regret and repent for their sins; their actions will bring them only pain and suffering.
ਪ੍ਰਲੋਕ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਕਿਹੜਾ ਮੂੰਹ ਦਿਖਾਉਣਗੇ? ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਗੁਨਾਹਾਂ ਲਈ ਅਫਸੋਸ ਕਰਨਗੇ ਅਤੇ ਨਿਰੋਲ ਕਸ਼ਟ ਹੀ ਪਾਉਣਗੇ।
ਦੇਨਿ = ਦੇਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਅਵਗੁਣਿ = ਔਗੁਣ ਦੇ ਕਾਰਨ। ਪਛੁਤਾਏ = (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਕਮਾਏ = ਸਹੇੜਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਪਰਲੋਕ ਵਿਚ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਉਹ ਮੂੰਹ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਿਖਾ ਸਕਦੀਆਂ। ਜੇਹੜੀ (ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀ) ਔਗੁਣ ਵਿਚ ਫਸ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਆਖ਼ਰ ਪਛੁਤਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਉਹ ਸਦਾ ਦੁੱਖ ਹੀ ਦੁੱਖ ਸਹੇੜਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੀਆ ਸੇ ਰੰਗਿ ਚਲੂਲਾ ਪਿਰ ਕੈ ਅੰਕਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Those who are imbued with the Naam are dyed in the deep crimson color of the Lord's Love; they merge into the Being of their Husband Lord.
ਗੂੜ੍ਹੀ ਲਾਲ ਰੰਗਤ ਹੈ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੀ ਜੋ ਨਾਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੀਜੀਆਂ ਹਨ। ਉਹ ਆਪਣੇ ਪਤੀ ਦੇ ਸਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ।
ਨਾਮਿ = ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ। ਰੰਗਿ = ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ। ਚਲੂਲਾ = ਗੂੜ੍ਹਾ। ਅੰਕਿ = ਗੋਦ ਵਿਚ, ਗਲਵੱਕੜੀ ਵਿਚ। ਸਮਾਏ = ਸਮਾਇ, ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ।
ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੀਆਂ ਹੋਈਆਂ ਜੀਵ-ਇਸਤ੍ਰੀਆਂ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਚਰਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਗੂੜ੍ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ (ਮਸਤ ਰਹਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ)।
ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ ਅਵਰੁ ਨ ਸੂਝਈ ਕਿਸੁ ਆਗੈ ਕਹੀਐ ਜਾਏ ॥
I can conceive of no other as great as the Lord; unto whom should I go and speak?
ਉਸ ਜਿੱਡਾ ਵੱਡਾ ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਸੁਝ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦਾ, ਮੈਂ ਹੋਰ ਕੀਹਦੇ ਕੋਲ ਜਾ ਕੇ ਫਰਿਆਦੀ ਹੋਵਾਂ?
ਤਿਸੁ ਜੇਵਡੁ = ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ। ਜਾਏ = ਜਾਇ, ਜਾ ਕੇ।
ਉਸ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੇ ਬਰਾਬਰ ਦਾ (ਜਗਤ ਵਿਚ) ਹੋਰ ਕੋਈ ਨਹੀਂ ਦਿੱਸਦਾ (ਇਸ ਵਾਸਤੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾ) ਕਿਸੇ ਹੋਰ ਅੱਗੇ (ਕੋਈ ਦੁਖ ਸੁਖ) ਦੱਸਿਆ ਨਹੀਂ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ।
ਸੋ ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹੀਐ ਜੇ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥੩॥

ਜੇਕਰ ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਸਮਝ ਪ੍ਰਦਾਨ ਕਰਨ ਤਾਂ ਪ੍ਰਾਣੀ ਨਿਸਚਿਤ ਹੀ ਉਸ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੁਆਮੀ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਚਾ ਸਚੁ = ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ। ਸਲਾਹੀਐ = ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਜਾ ਸਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਏ = ਦੇਇ ਬੁਝਾਇ, ਸਮਝਾ ਦੇਵੇ, ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸਮਝ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ ਦੇਵੇ ॥੩॥
ਉਸ ਸਦਾ ਕਾਇਮ ਰਹਿਣ ਵਾਲੇ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਤਦੋਂ ਹੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਜਾ ਸਕਦੀ ਹੈ, ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦੇਂਦਾ ਹੈ ॥੩॥
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੜਾ ਸਚੁ ਸਲਾਹਿਆ ਹੰਉ ਤਿਨ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥
I fall at the feet of those who praise the Truest of the True.
ਜੋ ਸੱਚਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਪਰਮ ਸੱਚਿਆਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ।

ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਸਿਫ਼ਤ-ਸਾਲਾਹ ਕੀਤੀ, ਮੈਂ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੇ ਚਰਨੀਂ ਲੱਗਦਾ ਹਾਂ।
ਸੇ ਜਨ ਸਚੇ ਨਿਰਮਲੇ ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਲੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਏ ॥
Those humble beings are true, and immaculately pure; meeting them, all filth is washed off.
ਸੱਚੇ ਅਤੇ ਪਵਿੱਤਰ ਹਨ ਉਹ ਪੁਰਸ਼, ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਸਚੇ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ, ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ।
ਉਹ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਅਡੋਲ-ਚਿੱਤ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ, ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕੀਤਿਆਂ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ।
ਤਿਨ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਮਲੁ ਸਭ ਜਾਏ ਸਚੈ ਸਰਿ ਨਾਏ ਸਚੈ ਸਹਜਿ ਸੁਭਾਏ ॥
Meeting them, all filth is washed off; bathing in the Pool of Truth, one becomes truthful, with intuitive ease.
ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲ ਕੇ ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਧੋਤੀ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ, ਇਨਸਾਨ ਨਾਮ ਦੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਤਾਲਾਬ ਅੰਦਰ ਨ੍ਹਾਉਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਭਾਵਕ ਹੀ ਸਤਿਵਾਦੀ ਥੀ ਵੰਞਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਰਿ = ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ। ਨਾਏ = ਨ੍ਹਾਏ, ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰ ਲੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ। ਸਹਜਿ = ਆਤਮਕ ਅਡੋਲਤਾ ਵਿਚ। ਸੁਭਾਏ = ਸੁਭਾਇ, ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਵਿਚ।
ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦਾ ਦੀਦਾਰ ਕਰਨ ਨਾਲ (ਵਿਕਾਰਾਂ ਦੀ) ਸਾਰੀ ਮੈਲ ਲਹਿ ਜਾਂਦੀ ਹੈ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੇ ਨਾਮ-ਸਰੋਵਰ ਵਿਚ ਇਸ਼ਨਾਨ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ ਉਸ (ਪ੍ਰਭੂ) ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦਾ ਹੈ।
ਨਾਮੁ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਅਗਮੁ ਅਗੋਚਰੁ ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ ਦੀਆ ਬੁਝਾਏ ॥
The True Guru has given me the realization of the Naam, the Immaculate Name of the Lord, the unfathomable, the imperceptible.
ਸੱਚੇ ਗੁਰਾਂ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਪਵਿੱਤ੍ਰ, ਪਹੁੰਚ ਤੋਂ ਪਰੇ ਅਤੇ ਅਗਾਧ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਦਰਸਾ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰਿ = ਗੁਰੂ ਨੇ।
ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਨੇ ਮੈਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਸੂਝ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਪਰਮਾਤਮਾ ਦਾ ਨਾਮ ਮਾਇਆ ਦੀ ਕਾਲਖ ਤੋਂ ਰਹਿਤ (ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲਾ) ਹੈ, ਪਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ (ਸਿਆਣਪ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ) ਅਪਹੁੰਚ ਹੈ, ਗਿਆਨ-ਇੰਦ੍ਰਿਆਂ ਦੀ ਭੀ ਉਸ ਤਕ ਪਹੁੰਚ ਨਹੀਂ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਭਗਤਿ ਕਰਹਿ ਰੰਗਿ ਰਾਤੇ ਨਾਨਕ ਸਚਿ ਸਮਾਏ ॥
Those who perform devotional worship to the Lord night and day, are imbued with His Love; O Nanak, they are absorbed in the True Lord.
ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਾਲ ਰੰਗੇ ਹੋਏ ਜੋ ਰਾਤ ਦਿਨ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਾਈਂ ਦੀ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਮਈ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ, ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਉਹ ਉਸ ਅੰਦਰ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਹਨ।
ਅਨਦਿਨੁ = ਹਰ ਰੋਜ਼। ਸਚਿ = ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਹਰੀ ਵਿਚ। ਸਮਾਏ = ਸਮਾਇ, ਲੀਨ ਰਹਿ ਕੇ
ਹੇ ਨਾਨਕ! ਸਦਾ-ਥਿਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਵਿਚ ਲੀਨ ਹੋ ਕੇ ਹਰ ਵੇਲੇ ਨਾਮ-ਰੰਗ ਵਿਚ ਰੰਗੇ ਕੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦੀ ਭਗਤੀ ਕਰ!
ਜਿਨੀ ਸਚੜਾ ਸਚੁ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹੰਉ ਤਿਨ ਕੈ ਲਾਗਉ ਪਾਏ ॥੪॥੪॥
I fall at the feet of those who meditate on the Truest of the True. ||4||4||
ਮੈਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਪੈਰੀ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹਾਂ, ਜੋ ਸਚਿਆਰ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਦਾ ਸਿਮਰਨ ਕਰਦੇ ਹਨ।

ਵਡਹੰਸ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਚੌਥੀ ਪਾਤਿਸ਼ਾਹੀ। ਲਲਾ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਸੁਰਤਾਲ ਤੇ ਗਾਉਣੀ।
ਲਲਾਂ, ਬਹਲੀਮਾ = ਲਲਾਂ ਤੇ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਦੋ ਛੋਟੇ ਛੋਟੇ ਰਾਜਪੂਤ ਰਾਜੇ ਸਨ, ਕਾਂਗੜੇ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ। ਇਕ ਵਾਰੀ ਲਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਇਲਾਕੇ ਵਿਚ ਔੜ ਲੱਗ ਗਈ, ਉਸ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪੈਦਾਵਾਰ ਦਾ ਛੇਵਾਂ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਦੇਣ ਦਾ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਕਰ ਕੇ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਦੀ ਨਹਿਰ ਤੋਂ ਪਾਣੀ ਲਿਆ। ਫ਼ਸਲ ਦਾ ਵੇਲਾ ਆਇਆ ਤਾਂ ਇਸ ਨੇ ਇਕਰਾਰ ਪੂਰਾ ਨਾ ਕੀਤਾ। ਦੋਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਹੋ ਪਈ ਪਰ ਬਹਲੀਮਾ ਜਿੱਤ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸ ਲੜਾਈ ਦਾ ਹਾਲ ਕਿਸੇ ਢਾਢੀ ਨੇ 'ਵਾਰ' ਵਿਚ ਗਾਂਵਿਆਂ, ਜਿਸ ਦਾ ਨਮੂਨਾ ਇਉਂ ਹੈ: "ਕਾਲ ਲਲਾਂ ਦੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਦਾ ਖੋਇਆ ਬਹਿਲੀਮਾ ॥ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਛਟਾ ਮਨਾਇ ਕੈ ਜਲੁ ਨਹਰੋਂ ਦੀਨਾ ॥ ਫਿਰਾਊਨ ਹੋਇ ਲਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਰਣ ਮੰਡਿਆ ਧੀਮਾ ॥ ਭੇੜ ਦੁਹੂ ਦਿਸ ਮੱਚਿਆ ਸੱਟ ਪਈ ਅਜੀਮਾ ॥ ਸਿਰ ਧੜ ਡਿੱਗੇ ਖੇਤ ਵਿਚ ਜਿਉ ਵਾਹਣ ਢੀਮਾ ॥ ਦੇਖਿ ਮਾਰੇ ਲਲਾਂ ਬਹਲੀਮ ਨੇ ਰਣ ਮਹਿ ਬਰਛੀਮਾ ॥" ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਆਗਿਆ ਕੀਤੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਇਸ ਵਾਰ ਦੀ ਸੁਰ ਤੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਰਾਮਦਾਸ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਇਹ ਵਡਹੰਸ ਦੀ ਵਾਰ ਗਾਉਣੀ ਹੈ।
